Please Be Aware

Today we saw a couple of people acting strange in front of our neighbours house.

One was knocking on his door while the other lurked outside behind the wall out of his site. I shouted from a window having seen this and the one behind the wall started to run. The other less quickly also made off.

When I asked my neighbour if he was OK he explained that the person at the door was an estate agent. Having worked in that industry for some 6 years here I can never remember a situation where I would need to run off if a neighbour called out. These people distract the owner talking about being an agent or other official and talk to you while the other enters your property to take what they can.

I tried to follow in my car but by the time I had got ready they were gone. However, they were dressed in dark leather jackets, about 5'10 with dark hair and what I can only describe as non British look to them but I dont think they were Spanish as there accent was not native to Spain.

Please be aware; if anyone comes to your door and starts a conversation make sure you have your door closed and any back doors/windows also secure. Just tell them to hold on at the door while you secure your property and then come back outside, shutting the door behind you to talk to these people. If they are bona fida then they wont mind.
